Professional counseling may be necessary for the child’s recovery process. NKCAC may have a trained therapist on site or may refer to mental health providers throughout the region to ensure children and families receive the services they need at the earliest opportunity to further the healing process.
The Advocacy Center offers counseling services by a licensed professional clinical counselor to assist children in coping with their
traumatic experiences. Mental health assessment, trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy, play therapy and family support are provided in a therapeutic setting. While our primary focus is treatment of the child, parental involvement is essential.
